Boren Fellowships for Graduate Students

Boren Fellowships provide funding opportunities to U.S. graduate students to study less commonly taught languages around the world. An initiative of the National Security Education Program, this fellowship involves areas underrepresented in study abroad and in areas critical to U.S. interests. Boren Fellowships provide up to $24,000 for overseas study.  Application deadline: January 28, 2016.

Research Travel Grants at Duke University

The David M. Rubenstein Rare Book and Manuscript Library at Duke University is providing a $1,000 research travel grant. All who wish to use the resources available at Duke for research purposes are encouraged to apply, regardless of academic standing. All applicants must reside beyond a 100 mile radius of Durham, NC. The grant money may be used for travel expenses, meals, and accommodations, and will be reimbursed when the recipient completes his or her research.  Application deadline: January 29, 2016.

Foreign Language Area Studies Fellowship

The African Studies Center is providing academic year and summer Foreign Language Area Studies Fellowships. The priority languages for the African Studies Center will be Arabic, Lingala, Kiswahili, and Wolof. Graduate and undergraduate students from all disciplines and professional schools are encouraged to apply. ICPSR Research Paper Competition: Undergraduates & Master’s

The Inter-university Consortium for Political and Social Research is hosting two research paper competitions, the first being for undergraduate students and the second being for master’s students. First prize in each category is $1,000 and second is $750. Entrants must not have graduated before April 1st, 2015. More information about the research papers can be found on the website below. Application deadline: January 31, 2016.
